About Me

Meet Christine

The Heart Behind La Bonita Cocina

Hola mi gente! I’m Christine — proud Boricua, single mom of two amazing boys, and the hands, heart, and hustle behind La Bonita Cocina.

I grew up in a home where you could smell love before you saw it. My mom always had a warm, homemade dinner ready, and the aromas would fill the whole house — rice on the stove, seasonings in the air, and family walking through the door saying:
“Mmm… what’s cooking?”

My friends would come over just for my mother’s Arroz con Gandules.
Food wasn’t just food — it was joy, connection, and comfort.

I learned to cook watching the strong women (and men!) in my family:
my mom, my dad, my abuela, my tías… all cooking for huge family parties where everybody left full and happy. Seeing the way food brought people together inspired me more than anything.

Why I Started Cooking for the Community

As a single mom, I wanted to find a way to provide for my boys during the holidays while sharing the thing that brings me the most peace and happiness:
feeding people.

What started as seasonal holiday trays turned into a beautiful community movement.

People kept coming back. They kept supporting me. They kept saying,
“Christine, your food tastes like home.”

And so… La Bonita Cocina was born.

Why “La Bonita Cocina”?

I’ve always believed food should feel as beautiful as it tastes. A “pretty plate” isn’t just a style — it’s a reflection of the love and pride I put into every dish. La Bonita Cocina represents that beauty, that warmth, and that tradition.

My Promise to You

Everything is made with authentic Puerto Rican flavors

Everything is homemade, from the sofrito to the pernil

Everything is cooked with love, respect, and pride

And everything is served the way my family taught me: with corazón.

Thank you for supporting my dreams, for feeding your families with my food, and for being part of this beautiful journey.

Con todo mi amor, Christine La Bonita Cocina
